Psalm 105

Praising the Lord for remembering his promises to Abraham and his descendants.

1–7 A call to praise, thank, and trust the Lord
8–15 The Abrahamic covenant
16–24 Joseph in Egypt
25–36 The plagues in Egypt
37–45 Israel’s deliverance from Egypt

  • Verses 1–7 teach the response Israel should have to the rest of the psalm. Why are these responses appropriate?
  • Verse 25 does not mean God made them sin (cf. James 1:13). The ability to sin was already in their hearts, but up until then God had restrained them from doing so. This means that God let them go their own way.
  • What was Israel’s deliverance from Egypt based on (v. 42)?
