How important is it for you to strive to daily read, study, and meditate on God’s Word?
- You need to grow! 1 Pet 2:2
- You need to be controlled by God’s Word to live a Christ-worthy and pleasing life, Col 1:9-10
- You need to be equipped to meet every demand in life and faithfully serve Christ, 2 Tim 3:16-17
- You are expected to so grow in Christian maturity that you are able to teach others, Heb 5:11-12
- You need to be able to tell the difference between right and wrong—while not every issue in life is covered in Scripture, the Bible provides the necessary principles and wisdom that do address every issue, Heb 5:13
If you follow this calendar for your daily Bible reading, you will read through the Psalms and the New Testament once this year, and half of the Old Testament. This is partially taken from Scottish pastor Robert Murray McCheyne (1813-1843). We will finish the other half of the Old Testament in 2012 (and read the New Testament and Psalms again).
